We have received reports of some seller’s receiving SMS and email enquiries into their items for sale from non-legitimate buyer’s based overseas.

Below is an example of the SMS you may receive:

Hey,saw ur add on tradingpost and will like to know if the car is still available. You can contact me on my personal e-mail m.anthony@ovi.com Mark xxx

Trading Post strongly recommends you do the following:

1.       Ignore the request and forward the SMS/emails to investigations@tradingpost.com.au and then delete the SMS/email from your Inbox and Deleted Items

2.       Do not reply to the SMS/email.

3.       If you have responded and provided personal/financial details you should contact us immediately

Look out for SMS text requesting you reply by e-mail for a "quick purchase" of your vehicle. They will say they are overseas and will need to arrange shipping. It is worldwide, they send a cheque which will be cleared initially but later bounces, but not before you have sent them thousands of dollars for "shipping". Don't part with anything until you have seen the whites of their eyes...
