I have painted our hallway and meals area with primer as a darker colour was used previoulsy.I am obviously doing something wrong as my paint work is patchy and uneven and I have bought new roller pads and good paint. Can you tell me could this be the roller itself, that is the problem because of the uneven application.Advice would be appreciated

I want to give some advise for Painting with roller. Wrap the roller in a plastic bag if you are going to stop painting for more than a few minutes, this will prevent the paint from forming a skin on the roller. Clean both the roller frame and the sleeve when you finish 'for the day'.Rollers will come apart to make cleaning relatively easy.

When you really want to put paint on a wall quickly, nothing beats a roller. Roller trays work well for smaller areas such as bedrooms where a single gallon of paint might be all that is needed. Cleanup is also easier with roller trays.
