Can someone help me out here please...
I have recently been given a 1971 XY Ford which I am thinking about restoring.
It is currently in good nick; the engine is in ok condition, the body has little rust but the interior and paint work has gone down the drain (I think years of it being left out in the sun).
Other than that, driving her is a real pleasure! 
Can anyone suggest anything quality and cost effective in order to redo this baby up?

There's heaps of things you can do to restore a car, but most of them expensive.
Depends on what you want to get out of it. Do you want the achievement of doing it or do you just want a nice car?
Its always going to be cheaper to buy one that someone else has spent thousands doing up.

Well I can see Trading Post seems to have heaps of XY parts on the site under accessories ...... inc a set of reconditioned front and back seats.
But my suggestion would to go along to a Ford Falcon '70's car owners Club day and see what can be done with the right amount of time ( and capital ). You could probably be able to hear a few "war stories" and dos and donts on restoring your XY - good luck.
