I've been searching within Marine sales for a power boat for the past few months. Last night there was a new listing for a boat that was potentially worth at least $50'000 yet was selling for a mere $8000!! Hmmm suspicious?? You bet! I contacted the seller via the email address provided in the advertisement, and they contacted me within 2 minutes asking for my full name and address. They then sent a dummy invoice/payment instruction email that could be very convincing to the untrained eye, as it looked liked a legitimate template style email with the Trading Post logo etc. The email had a "Live help team chat" link attached which made me a little suss.. however it was the request to send money via Western Union that made me laugh. I even copied and pasted the boat model/description and googled it and what do you know??.. it was posted for sale on another selling site for $7000 along with other items for sale like a car, jetski, Harley Davidson Softail and another road bike. Dodgey buggers!! I feel real bad for the poor guliable folk out there that have ulimately made a money transfer and paid a high price! The moral of the story is the same old "if it looks to good to be true, it almost always is!" Don't be fooled, check once, twice, three times.. even more.. better to be safe than sorry I say!
BTW the boat advertisement has now been removed!!

I have fell for a scam like this.. was buying a black camaro.. They sent me a link to a car transport company. which i registered for and seemed exactly like the proper site. then i recieved emails saying i needed to pay the agent of the shipping company cos i was gettin the car sent to me.. So i thought all is well i sent 6000 dollars. Then to my surprise i arrived home clicked on the link to the "shipping company" and the site was completely gone!!!.. and never once heard from the ppl selling the vehicle again..

But anyway.. there was a car on here 2 days ago.. Black BMW $3500 and could tell was worth wayyyy more had dvd screen in it, convertible etc etc. But Thought id email them anyway to see what was up. and if not anything let them know there add was priced wrong..

And yes within a short period of time i got a message also asking for full name address. and they said the transaction would be done all thru trading post cos they were apparently working away in the UK and going thru a divorce.. Soon as they said bout UK.. INSTANT reminder of what happened to me before Lol Im sooooo not going there again haha, learned big time from that mistake.. And the lesson learned is "IF ITS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE, IT ISNT"...

I came across one today, same story UK and divorced they are selling a Toyota Corolla 2007 for $5800 what made me suspicious was why no number plates in the picture. Anyway they asked for name and address i decided to give them a fake name and a non existent address to send them on a wild goose chase. They deserved it.

This scamming is going on all the time and too many people are getting 'done'. my father in law was only looking at a boat on here and requested some info and received an invoice saying congratulations you have bought this boat, send money now...well he thought he had accidentally bought it somehow and was going to pay when we looked into it for him and realised...ah no...DONT do it.
It is not right but how can it be stopped? I guess if its too good to be true..its probably a scam and dont be bullied into paying and giving full details until you have looked into it properly. always pay thru the secure sites you are purchasing from. Good luck everyone and dont let them scammers bite!

well i wish i read this before
i e-mailed the person who had the ad for the black BMW328i convertible
got this back
The car looks and runs great. I am selling the car so cheap because I am in United Kingdom with my job and I am going through a divorce. I am a VerifiedTrader so the transaction will be done through TradingPost. If you're ready for this purchase, I need to know your full name and address, as soon as I have them I will start the official procedure, and TradingPost will notify you about this. TradingPost will send you an Invoice with all the info you will need to complete the transaction. Also a 10 days refund policy will be included so if you will not like the car you will receive your money back.

Regards,
Bianca Stred

i gave her my name address and phone numbers what is the worst they can do and how is the trading post meant to function is it like e-bay ??? please help

Well if you give your full name and address and are contacted thru trading post about, it might be legit. however make sure that if you are contacted thru trading post, that it is not a hoax email like Trading post is warning about. if you think it is suss in ANY way..it probably is. Dont part with your money until you know everything you need to.

Hi All,
I've also been given the story that she's divorced and living in uk. Still she tries to con us all. Has sent me a trading post confirmation of sale which was attached to her email. This had detail instructions on how to proceed with the sale. West union money transfer.... It's see you later you'll never see that again. Please don't be fooled folks be very carefully when parting with your money.

I,m amazed at the amount of divorced women in the UK who are selling vastley under priced items. Hello to Emily Edwards in London, hope you sell that Camper Trailer that your brother in-laws looking after. What amazed me was the lengths they went to from the fake Trading Post page with on line help to the endless e-mail advising you it's all legit and above board, although the grammer at times leaves alot to be desired.
