| My daughter (14) is suddenly keen on learning guitar. What is the best type and make for a learner? I know she is big enough for a full size, but that's about it.

Hi Justin.....
Try a 6-string acoustic guitar, with metal, not nylon, strings. You can get "starter" packs from all good music stores and some of these are quite good brands - Ibanez, Ashton, etc. And these are priced fairly reasonably. I would also consider a teacher, rather than books, at least initially. A teacher can show her the correct left and right hand positions, different strummings etc. Maybe later she can then go to reputable books to enhance her skills.
Good luck!!!!!

An acoustic guitar is better than a electric guitar to strat learning on.
I would suggest a used guitar incase she changes her mind and then your stuck with a guitar that you probably wont have any use for. Thats what happened to me, but if you want to buy it heres the URL.. http://www.tradingpost.com.au/Musical-Instruments-Equipment/Guitars-Equipment/Guitars/AdNumber=TP001342994?BackToResult=true
I have only used it once and it comes with a digital tuner so your daughter can go on the net and see what string is supposed to make what noise and so the first string is an E and then you can move the knobs at the top to change it then you strum that string and then if an E comes up on the tuner then you know you've got it or you have to keep fiddling with the knob, easy peasy. It also comes with a stand and a cover, the only thing you would need is a music stand and a pic.
