| HI, I have some DVDs that are 'skipping' and not playing very well on my portable dvd player. They play OK at the start. but start to skip when I get further into the movie. The DVDs play ok on my normal unit. Any ideas?

Not a technical answer I'm afraid. I had the same and it was basically a fault with the laser mechanism, it was sticking as it moved along. As always these days, it was cheaper to buy a new one!
They have some on TP for about a $100, maybe even cheaper
