What sorts of modifications could I do to make the turbo sound louder while it's winding up? As in when you drive and the turbo kicks in there is this faint JET sound, would it be a blow off valve or an intercooler addition? Thanks for any help in advance.

Probably you should go for Apexi power intake (pod air filter), I use this one and sounds pretty good! But it doesn't increase your power output as much as an intercooler. An intercooler addition will certainly increase your power output, much more than a power intake but doesn't make a nice suction sound. But it's upto you to decide to go for the 'sound' or for the 'power'.

Definitely an intercooler. I have a WRX without one and no one notices me when I drive down the road. Every WRX with one gets lots of turning heads!!

turbo's are not designed to sound cool, they are designed to work eficiently, intercoolers wont make it sound any louder, pod filters will to an extent, turbo's run on a fine balance and playing with it too much if you dont know what you are doing is only going to result in loss of horsepower

intercooler won't do anything to the noise, if it's the sucking noise you are after than you need more air intake, so a bigger intake pipe. not all turbo's are designed for noise when spooling up, if you want more noise go a bigger turbo.

WRX without intercooler. I think that you better check your badges cos all WRX's have an intercooler whether it be top mount or front mount. Intercoolers don't get the heads turning on the WRX's it's the after market sports exhaust system!. Maybe you have a RX!
