I'm just about to make a start on recording some songs at home i've got my PC all set up with Adobe Audition just need to purchase a mic for vocals.

Anyone got any home recording tips & tricks they'd care to share with a novice?

At the moment I don't really have the money or need to go into a studio so looking forward to hearing any tips others might have.

You probably won't like the fact that good mics cost, and cheap ones aren't worth the effort. Do you know what kind of mic you actually want? Condenser, dynamic or what?? For around $400 or so, you should be able to get good quality mic for what you want to do with it. You need to talk to a specialist supplier who can advise you.
