It won't rust (the wheels are tough plastic or nylon), is easy to push and steer which is the single most important thing and is very durable. Do not spend more than $600-$700 on a pram as no pram is worth that much. It folds up reasonably well and is light enough to lift and put in the car. Make sure that you drive a few around the shop, go through doorways, up and down stairs - give it a real test. You'll see that the Mountain Buggy is by far the best at manouvering and that is the most important feature of any pram because that's what you do most with it. Good luck!

RE: Prams worse than buying a car!!!

I understand fully what you mean about purchasing a pram. The first time I went looking to buy a pram I was sooo unprepared and limited in time and money. As a result I bought the worst pram (4 wheeler) ever made.

Second time around I made sure I visited the baby stores frequently and when it came to buy one I knew exactly what I wanted, was confortable with the way it functioned and it met all of the criteria that I had.

Take your time and do your research. Do not hurry into making a purchase, and whatever other people like may not necessarily work for you. Another thing, it may pay to take an older person to see if the pram that you are eyeing is easy for them to use also, as one of the things that I found that a pram that is fidgity, will be hated and avoided by everyone who could come to use it.

Good luck and congratulations!
Wendy

RE: Prams worse than buying a car!!!

Don't waste your time and money looking at baby baths. We used ours only once or twice and found that by the time you got the water into the tub and then emptied it it was just as easy to get down on our knees and use the bathroom tub. As for prams, we used a Steelcraft three wheel jogger stroller which was easy enough for my wife to fold up, it fit in the boot ok and was good when we went walking or jogging. Unless they have changed them, there was no provision to add an extra seat for a second child.
Good Luck

RE: Prams worse than buying a car!!!

A fiend of mine did extensive research and purchased a Phil and Ted pram. It's 3 wheels, very sturdy. has lots of accessories to purchase and is fabulous. Hope this helps.

RE: Prams worse than buying a car!!!

Bugaboos hey interesting, thanks for that.

We have been thinking Phil and Teds as a few friends have suggested it because it's light and the wheel base is not so wide. Bit cheaper than your suggestion but like so many of these things everything is an add on.

Apparently the Phil & Teds has a great option for a second child too....we are just hoping to get over the first one!

As for baby baths. I'm not sure of brands but I'm told the ones with a plug and hose attachment are great for saving your back.

RE: Prams worse than buying a car!!!

You are so right! Colour, weight, does it fit in your boot, who ever thought it could be this hard?? Apparently the Bugaboos are the most popular at the moment at only 8.5 kilos but they cost about $1500 (which is about the same as some used cars). I've asked some people who have them and they love them. I personally won't be going the three-wheel variety as I've heard they have wide wheel bases which can make them hard to get through doors, etc and can be a little precarious for newborns. Make sure it fits in your pram - ask the sales person to bring it to your car and give you a demo. And seriously, look at the weight because there is no way I could lift a 16kg Emmaljunga. Good luck.

For me, any advice with baby baths? Again, there are almost 500 to choose from...

Prams worse than buying a car!!!

My wife and I are expecting our first child and jjust spent last weekend looking for prams.

Boy I thought buynig cars was confusing until I tried to compare all the prams on the market.

Can anyone suggest a good pram?

We were thinking the 3 wheeled variety, are they any good?
