It supplys region free discs and the price is amazing!!!

RE: DVD Regions

This posting is a compilation of my personal research and should answer all of your questions on this subject and more......

What is regional coding?
When DVD players are manufactured they are region free. A code is then entered into them to restrict play of disc to only that of the region in which the DVD players are sold.

What region plays in what area?
The list is as follows:
0 Worldwide (region free / all regions)
1 Canada, United States; U.S. territories; Bermuda
2 Western and Central Europe; Western Asia; Israel, Iran, Egypt, Japan, South Africa, Swaziland, Lesotho; United Kingdom, Turkey, French overseas territories
3 Southeast Asia; South Korea; Taiwan; Hong Kong; Macau
4 Mexico, Central and South America; Caribbean; Australia; New Zealand; Oceania;
5 Ukraine, Belarus, Russia, Africa, Central and South Asia, Mongolia, North Korea.
6 People's Republic of China
7 Reserved for future use (found in use on protected screener copies of MPAA-related DVDs and "media copies" of pre-releases in Asia)
8 International venues such as aircraft, cruise ships, etc.

Why do we have regional coding?
Regional coding was introduced to allow for differentiation in pricing between regions as well as allowing for differences in initial release dates.
The legalities of this are being currently investigated by numerous bodies including the ACCC as DVD distributors have abused the purpose of regional coding by releasing older movies onto DVD with full regional restrictions illustrating that regional coding was introduced solely to profit from enforcig price differentials.
It is also probable that the reason for regional coding was also due to the fact that many African and Asian countries were either too poor to police American copyright laws or simply refused to acknowledge them.

How can I make my DVD player region free?
In order to allow your DVD player to play DVD's from other countries/regions you need to convert it to region '0'.

How do I unlock the regional coding?
Visit www.videohelp.com and click on the 'DVD Hacks' link. Type in the model of your DVD player and you will find a simple code. Enter this code in using your remote and your dvd player will now be region free.
The code is different for each model.

Is this legal?
As the legality of regional coding and price fixing that goes with it is in serious ongoing legal debate, it is probable that will soon be legal. That being said many dvd players are now sold in Australia through leading commercial retailers that are already region free.

RE: DVD Regions

dvdsetshop is a good online shop, there are many dvds, with region 1, 2, 4, etc

RE: DVD Regions

Check the back of your player for what region it is. If it's multi region which nearly all new machines are then yes it will play,or if it's region 4 which is Australia's region. Ask the seller for what region the disc is after checking.

America is region 1
Britain is region 2
Australia region 4

RE: DVD Regions

Hi! As long as the dvd is Region 4 PAL, which is for Australia and New Zealand it will play. Make sure and read the add and ask the seller what region it is. Different countries have different region codes for dvds. The U.S is Region 1 for example. Mostly these days, the new dvd players are multi-region players and will play any region HOWEVER, it pays to check before buying one.

DVD Regions

If I was to buy a DVD from New Zealand would it work on Australian DVD players?

I'm not familiar with how the DVD regions all work.
