There is a newer tv coming out!!! OLED, It will be replacing LCD, I just brought a 58inch Samsung Plasma series 6, We perfer Plasma, Plasmas are better to watch sport as they have a higher response time then most lcd, Plasma better for Sports and action movies...

Love our new Plasma,, Hmmm bit to big i think!!! Bloody hubbY!!!. hehe

there's lot's of negative feedback for the SONIQ brand... e.g. resolution not as they have advertised....better go for good brand like Samsung, Sony etc..

I ended up buying LCD. With a very good offer in Bing Lee end of last year.

Free small flat screen TV when I bought LCD

Very happy with it.

check your settings on both the tv and the input device ie set top box

Shopped around heaps before getting my 32" & ended up with a Soniq (& matching box).
They use an LG engine & have higher specs (resolution) than most of the 'name brands' of similar price.
A hint- go to competitors & get their best price then go to JB & play hardball... I ended up with the whole setup and a 5 yr extended warrantee (invaluable!) for $200 under the price of even an Acer or Thomson screen!
And the verdict? COuldn't be happier with the result!

I went with LG as well 42" plasma really happy with it! Only had it for a couple of weeks so still getting used to all the new functions and controls on the remote but so far so good! It's great with the xbox 360 as well

I recently bought a Conia 42" Plasma for just under $1400, I was looking at the top of the range LG CRT for about the same Price. I spoke to the salesman and he explained that a lot of the "Lesser known" brands, in fact use panels made by the bigger manufacturers (The unit I bought has a Samsung panel in it) I was a little bit concerned about buying a non-brand unit, but the image is exceptional compared to other more expensive units I saw.

oh yeah, my widescreen tv has a little button to change the aspect of the screen to 16:9, auto, justified etc. The button name is 'aspect' on a Panasonic.
