I have an 'eee pc' running Linux and it's fast and easy to use, much better than my windows o/s on all the desktops I've used.

So for me with internet and email I prefer Linux, I haven't used Mac so I can't comment, but I've never been 100% happy with windows.

the best OS??? now that's just asking for trouble isn't it.

Leigh Dyer from PC Authority explains how to run all 3 OS's on a MAC. That just says it all...

I use PCLinuxOS, it's fast, free and very secure. On equal I'd put Mac as both Linux and Mac are Unix based.

Windows is good for games, that's about all. Don't go on the internet with it.

People who use Linux and Mac rarely have an issue with crashing, viruses and spyware. These are a Windows problem.

Linux can be made to look as good as either Vista or Mac OSX if you know how.

Best of all, Linux is fun.

Very simple answer really , although everyone has their own viewpoints.

Windows is the best without a doubt for gaming. There is simply not enough support for gaming on either Mac or Linux.

Mac is great if you want style and have some basic pc needs - also more secure than Windows.

Linux - is best all round for internet use , office work and everyday computing. It is very fast ( much faster than Windows ) , secure - no viruses , trojans or spyware , and mostly completely free to use.

I use Linux on all my pcs except one that is used for pc gaming - that runs XP. Did try Vista Ultimate once - so slow even on a 2 GB of ram - well slow when compared with Linux.

If you have a spare pc , then by all means do yourself a favour and try various distros of Linux - they are all free to try anyway.
Ubuntu is good but I really would recommend TeenPup Linux - it works almost the same as Windows and everything from DVD burning ,filesharing , MP3 creation and even a Midi Studio is all built in.

Yes i do have to agree that the new mac's are fantastic i am running mac and windows vista on the one computer. They both have there quality's although tech support is the main difference. With windows you spend half the time ticking and unpicking boxes and going from screen to screen. With mac it was start the computer five minutes later its fixed. just don't going asking a tech from one to help you with the other. It's not pretty

I'd have to say Windows is the best OS.

Why? well it is more efficient and faster.

NB: DO NOT use Linux, it is way too slow

Windows : Everyday, everyone basic use, business applications.
Mac : Graphic designer, multimedia, video, 3D application
Linux : Server side, very stable and reliable but not as user friendly.

Apple Mac combines a GUI (Graphical User Interface) of Windows XP/Vista, but with higher performance, with the reliability of BSD.

Linux and BSD are very closely related, but the User Interface 'hides' most the technical stuff from Apple Mac users (unless they want to get into a Unix / BSD prompt and tweak around).

I have been a PC User for 12 years, but now that Apple Mac are offering Intel Core 2 Duo (tm) based systems, I am reconsidering, and plan to build a Apple Mac / PC hybrid setup at home.

I have to admit, I am now a total convert to Mac. I was forced to use one due to my partners design requirements and I have been won over. The speed from waking up, through to things like navigation and the "Expose' " feature put it ahead of the game.Viruses? to date, Mac has not had one. Now that Apple shares have climbed, I also find that most programs are available for Mac as well. All positives no negatives. Whenever I now have to use a PC, I grimace at the decline in performance. Sorry have not used Linux.

hey Guys,

Just wanna get an idea of what people think is the best operating system theses days??

I have all 3 running at home and for me, I find Linux is the best! (I run Ubuntu)... BUT I also love my Mac too.. Windows however annoying it can be at times, I guess is most compatible with everything else!

What do you guys think?
