Every 15-20 minutes my wireless network drops out, and then re-acquires the network address and reconnects. It seems to have started doing it since I moved down from NSW and started using OptusNet, however the laptop I also have configured on the network doesn't do it. It's a right royal pain in the backside, especially as i've sat the computers side-by-side and the settings are identical.

Can anyone advise somethign for me to try (short of resetting and re-installing everything)?

Windows, Mac, or Linux?

hey Guys,

Just wanna get an idea of what people think is the best operating system theses days??

I have all 3 running at home and for me, I find Linux is the best! (I run Ubuntu)... BUT I also love my Mac too.. Windows however annoying it can be at times, I guess is most compatible with everything else!

What do you guys think?

Firefox v Chrome v IE

Hi, I have been looking at all the browsers over the past fortnight, trying to get a feel for what is the best for me. I have traditionally been an IE user (probably forced on me by my corporate background) but have moved more and more towards Firefox with it's great plugins and speed. Now Chrome has enetered the wonderful world of web browsers. First impressions are that it is very fast and light. Seems to handle all of my favourite websites with no rendering problems.

But it does lack the plugin support of Firefox. At the moment I'll stick with Firefox but keep a close eye on Chrome, IE is a mammoth product now that is slow to load and resource hungry.

Any thoughts from fellow surfers?

Pitfalls of wireless access on my computer

I am a computer illiterate and have been told I should get a wireless connection at home for my computer. I have heard stories about people getting hacked because of their wireless connection. Is this true?

If wireless is a good option what should I be looking for?

I am looking to purchase a USB drive for myself (i think portable storage is a great idea - yes I know I am slow, everyones already got one) but I don't know what brands are reliable, what capacity would I need? and whats 1.0, 2.0 USB mean?

Does anyone here use mailing houses?
