Hi visherfamily,

Thats very strange, can you tell me what the auction item number was? The number is in the top right hand corner of the page.

I'd like to take a look at the bidding history and see what is recorded.

Thanks
Bruce

I just had a thought, did you refresh the page to make sure you were looking at the most recent data.... I've seen some lag in correct data being displayed in the past.

Cheers
Bruce

Thanks, that makes it much easier to understand.

The auction had a reserve price (only the seller knows the price), so although you are the highest bidder, you didn't reach the reserve price, therefore there is no winner.

The messaging on the completed item page doesn't look correct, so I'll let the site team at Trading Post know. I can definitely confirm that this particular item had a 'reserve price' and has not sold.

I hope that helps,

Cheers
Bruce

Thanks for that.
But it would be nice to know that an Item has a reserve price. Not necessarily the reserve $ price but an indication that there is one

Interesting, I was also watching this same item on Trading Post and I did see the 'reserve not met' message during the auction.

I'll send an email to the team and ask them to check the messages, seems a bit odd though. All the same the message at the end of the auction should say 'reserve not met'. Not 'auction has ended' which doesn't help the highest bidder to understand why they didn't win.

Thanks for your feedback and questions.

Cheers
Bruce

Would it be safe to say that the reserve price is the buy now price ?
The reason being that I had my higest bid was alot higher than the end bid dollar value and not that much lower than the buy now price.

The reserve price is known only to the seller and isn't disclosed until it has been reached by bidding. So I could only speculate about what the reserve price may have been.

The Trading Post system would automatically take your bid up to the reserve price, if your autobid was the same as or more than the reserve. So it is safe to assume that the reserve price was higher than the bid you placed.

The seller has relisted the item here:
http://www.tradingpost.com.au/Search?QueryTerm=adnumber%3A%20TP000318298&State=

It might be worth having another try, there doesn't appear to be a reserve price on this auction, from what I can see.

Cheers
Bruce
