I'm an avid Bonsai enthusiast.
My favourite tree is a Swamp Cypress. - but the Japanese Black Pine is a very close second. I have about 15 in my collection.
Just wondering how other people are coping with the drought and all these water restrictions....my bonsai are being compromised by the water shortage. ARGH.

Thought I'd give you some progess on the collection.
My pine trees are absolutely loving this dry and hot weather - my very sick Black Pine is improving with evey hot day. The new growth is coming in very dense, and gloryiously green (as opposed to last years yellow needles).
Some of the smaller bonsai haven't gone so well...The corky bark elms have been moved into the shade, as all their leaves were burnt a couple of weeks ago by the scorching sun. They are improving, and greeness is returning.
Unfortunetly, Sae-to-mae Azalea has surcumbed...I will never get this one back. The drought has killed it. They never do well with dry roots.

Hello. I am hoping to grow a Tasmanian Myrtle into a Bonzai, I recently bought some seeds whilst down in Tasmania on a holiday. I have tried to sprout a couple of the seeds and they do not seem to want to. Is there a special chemical or process that I should/could use to help this along.
