$1000? What?? I had no idea it was going to be that expensive. Seems a bit rich to me. Surely prices will drop quickly? Otherwise you could just buy a PC for that money..

The PS3 is going to retail at $999.

However, if you do a search on Trading Post, theres somesone selling it for $750.

Do a search for - Playstation 3 within the Electronics & Entertainment section.

I'm not 100% sure of the item, as its not yet available for sale yet in Australia. They must be a distributor or something.

The PS3 is not selling at the rate that Sony thought it would and I think the Wii has something to do with it. The Wii is amazingly cheap, smaller and provides entertainment (which is what you really want) If you watch the E3 reviews on youtube, they indicate that the Wii was the showstopper (Xbox360 rated as well). For the cost of a PS3 you could buy every add-on available for the Wii and still have change in your pocket.

You're absolutely rite about 1 PS3 can get u a lot of Wii gear.

I think PS3 will fare badly this time round. Only the hardcore PS fanboys will buy a PS3, but the general market wont respond to it well due to the high price point.

The only saving grace is the Blu Ray Disc drive, if that new media takes off then it mite be worth it because the average blu ray player is a lot more than the current price of a PS3.

Time will tell....

It seems that the PS3 really is quite ordinary (just compare the demo's at your local game store) The Wii is touted as the unit for the ordinary people = that is what most players are, not hardcore fanboys of any brand. If it is fun people play it.
Xbox360 is the undefeated champion of the high end systems. Micro$oft has even had the confidence to now ban anyone that has a Modded unit from Xbox Live = more money for them when new "clean" systems are purchased. Also maintaining their image for all the game studio's who love a console where their interests are protected.
Verdict buy a Wii. Or a Xbox360 (Just don't mod it).
